FAQs
Frequently Asked About Training
Absolutely. Most of our adult students start with little or no martial arts experience. Our instructors will meet you where you are and help you build confidence, fitness, and skill at your own pace. You don't need to be in shape to begin—we'll help you get there.
Not at all. Adults of all ages train at Kobayashi. Whether you're in your 20s, 40s, 50s, or beyond, our classes are designed to help you improve at your own pace in a safe and supportive environment.
Yes. Training is a full-body workout that improves strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, and coordination while teaching practical self-defense skills. It's a fun alternative to a traditional gym workout.
Wear comfortable workout clothes such as a T-shirt and athletic shorts or pants. You'll train barefoot on our mats, so no special equipment is needed for your first class.
Earning a black belt is a long-term goal that requires dedication, consistency, and perseverance. While every student progresses at their own pace, the journey teaches valuable life skills such as discipline, responsibility, goal setting, and resilience.
Absolutely. Many of our students say training is the best part of their week. Martial arts helps reduce stress, improve focus, and clear your mind while giving you a productive outlet after work or daily responsibilities.
Many of our adult students come to us with previous injuries or physical limitations. Before you begin, we'll discuss any concerns you have so we can help modify techniques when needed. Our goal is to help you train safely, build strength, and improve mobility at a pace that's right for you.
Our Adult Martial Arts program is designed with busy schedules in mind. We know that work, family, and life's responsibilities can make it difficult to attend the same number of classes every week.
While you're welcome to train up to three classes per week, we recommend attending at least two classes each week for the best progress. Some weeks you may make it to all three classes, while other weeks you may only be able to attend one—and that's okay. The most important thing is staying consistent over time.
Our goal is to provide a flexible training schedule that allows you to continue growing, even when life gets busy. Every class is an opportunity to improve your fitness, confidence, and martial arts skills.
