Since we’ve opened, we’ve been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time, through martial arts, education and coaching. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all students and family members in La Costa. We take pride in creating an environment for individuals to achieve, develop and succeed in their personal goals.
We strongly believe that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender or experience levels. Throughout all of our programs, students will not only learn the necessary skill sets to protect themselves, we stand behind our realistic and practical approach, confident it will enable every member to achieve greatness and live their best life.
Kyoshi Manie Garcia is an experienced martial artist with over 30 years of training. He holds a 6th-degree black belt in Okinawan Shorin-Ryu, a black belt in Tang Soo Do, and is currently working towards his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Mr. Garcia first got involved in Karate as a way to combat bullying he faced during his youth. He used martial arts to build confidence and self-esteem, overcoming adversity through his practice. Passionate about sharing the profound impact of martial arts with his students, alongside his wife Sensei Summer, he is the proud co-owner of Kobayashi Studios where they create a welcoming and empowering environment for students of all ages. Kyoshi Manie strives to challenge his students to reach their full potential while also maintaining a positive and fun atmosphere in every class. His passion for teaching and empowering students shines through in his supportive and engaging teaching style, making him a respected and beloved instructor in the studio.
Sensei Summer’s background includes gymnastics, competitive kickboxing, and martial arts training. As co-owner of Kobayashi Studios, she has been assisting in teaching alongside her husband Kyoshi Manie Garcia for over a decade. She plays a crucial role in managing the backend operations of the studio, ensuring the smooth functioning of administrative tasks, and maintaining strong connections with parents to address concerns and provide updates on their child’s progress. As an assistant instructor, Sensei Summer is actively involved in every class to help guide and support students in their training. Since Sensei Summer is dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where every student feels comfortable and valued, she prioritizes fostering a positive and fulfilling experience for everyone at the studio. Her commitment to nurturing and empowering students, managing studio operations, and actively participating in classes make her an essential part of the Kobayashi Studios team!

We’re so happy Kobayashi opened up in our community. It’s a clean, organized, and welcoming studio.
